These days, it seems like everyone is writing a book. And if any starlet of the past decade-and-a-half has some interesting stories to tell, it’s Britney Spears. Now, the superstar is finally getting ready to pen a tome – but it’s not exactly what you’d expect.
Of course, fans would love to see the starlet pen a memoir traversing life from the Mickey Mouse club to dating Justin, shaving her head to getting married for 55 hours in Vegas. But instead of the traditional memoir, Spears is following in the footsteps of Nicole Polizzi (aka ‘Snooki’) and “The Hills” star Lauren Conrad and writing a novel.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brit is in talks with the HarperCollins division It Books to become an author. They speculate that Spears’ advance would likely be quite substantial.
As such, fans will have to settle for a novel loosely based on her life thus far, instead of an autobiographical account. Snooki’s novel “A Shore Thing” and Conrad’s “L.A. Candy” have both become overwhelmingly popular bestsellers, so it’s expected that Britney’s book will follow in their footsteps.
In recent years, Britney has worked hard to revamp her image and get her life back on track following a very public 2008 head-shaving breakdown. The pop star has been living her life under a microscope since her breakout hit “Hit Me Baby One More Time” when she was just 17, and although the now-31-year-old has undoubtedly had her ups and downs with fame, things seem to be finally leveling out. She has a seemingly-healthy relationship with her fiancé and former agent Jason Trawick, and a steady job as a mentor on “The X Factor,” one of the most popular shows on TV.
It looks like things are only getting better for Britney Spears; perhaps taking a break from making music and pursuing other job opportunities is just what the doctor ordered. Now, it remains to be seen whether she can follow up her Billboard chart-topping albums with a similar conquering of the New York Times bestseller list.
