Jodie Foster Expands On Her Golden Globe Speech, Mel Gibson, Mom and Why Kristen Stewart Inspires Her

Jodie Foster Expands On Her Golden Globe Speech, Mel Gibson, Mom and Why Kristen Stewart Inspires Her

Jodie Foster delivered an amazing, confessional speech while accepting Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement in film at the 70th Annual Golden Globes. But backstage, she had even more to say.

Asked about the comments she made sending love to her ailing Mom, the Oscar winner explained: “My mom is an amazing inspiration for me. She picked me up from school and took me to see foreign films, sometimes two or three. She wouldn’t let me do my homework because she really wanted me to see movies. She passed that along to me and I’m grateful that she wanted me to be respected. That was her number one goal for me and I think that that permeated my early career.”

Despite rumors that the speech may have marked her retirement, Foster told reporters it was not true. “You’d have to drag me behind a team of horses [to get me to retire]. No, I’m not retiring from acting. I’d like to be directing tomorrow. If you have something that’s perfect for me, I’d like to be directing tomorrow so no, I feel, I’m actually more into it than I’ve ever been.”

Some at home may have been wondering why infamous fallen star Mel Gibson was at her table; Foster said true friends are as loyal as they are forgiving. “I know Mel Gibson extremely well and he’s someone that I love, that I’ve worked with, that I respect and it’s not difficult to say that, you know?” she said. “It’s very easy to say that. The man that I know is a true and loyal friend and considerate, loving and I think it’s important that when people are struggling, that you not run away from them if you love them.”

She also told reporters that she continues to draw inspiration from young actresses in Hollywood, including Kristen Stewart, who got her major break playing Foster’s “Panic Room” daughter. Foster also directed Danes in “Home for the Holidays.”

“I look at the room tonight, Kristen Stewart and Claire Danes, Jennifer Lawrence, all these young women that I’ve worked with who basically were child actors like I was a child actor, and I feel very protective of them because even though I think I have managed to get through the process, relatively sanely, I have my scars,” she said. “And I hope to be in some ways a member of their family that’s out there protecting them.”

“I think that’s what these awards do,” she continued. “They’re about looking into the patterns of your career and seeing how they express you and how they expressed you psychologically. I’m an actress so that is what I do — you’re attracted to material, you show your insides, the things that & you move people and that has an effect not just on other people but on you as well. That’s what we do. It’s all about our psychology.”

Congratulations Jodie. Keep up your amazing work.

The Best Golden Globes in Forever Gives Us Jennifer Lawrence Unfiltered, Jodie Foster Kinda Coming Out, the Amy & Tina Team and More!

The Best Golden Globes in Forever Gives Us Jennifer Lawrence Unfiltered, Jodie Foster Kinda Coming Out, the Amy & Tina Team and More!

Hollywood’s best and brightest hit the red carpet for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, a ceremony that reinvigorated the often monotonous awards circuit with just the right amount of zest it desperately needed. This was in large part due to the always hysterical shenanigans of co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, leaving the majority of critics wondering why the heck this hosting dream-team hadn’t been thought of before.

Let’s face it: If the glitzy award shows were a family, the Golden Globes would probably be the wacky, unpredictable aunt – fun to watch, but you never know quite what to expect. This year’s broadcast seemed to finally the embrace the crazy, providing everything from shocking winners to Tommy Lee Jones bearing an uncanny resemblance to Grumpy Cat.

Here are a few highlights:

Take that Academy! Ben Affleck won Best Director and Best Picture for his critically acclaimed film “Argo,” once again making his Oscar snub an increasingly embarrassing flub on the Academy’s part. While I am legitimately irate over this severe injustice, Affleck has been taking it in stride, even joking “I also didn’t get the acting nomination. I noticed no one was saying I was snubbed there.” Granted, the film still racked up 7 Oscar nods, so Ben’s affirmation that he’s “elated” is pretty apt. Nomination or not, it’s great to see the guy reaping the benefits of his career renaissance. Oscars or bust!

Jennifer Lawrence’s win for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical culminated in a delightfully candid acceptance speech (“I beat Meryl!”), of which we would expect no less from the outspoken star. Seriously, if you’ve ever seen J.Law speak for 5 seconds, you know the girl has no filter and we love her for it. Jen, don’t ever change!

Former POTUS Bill Clinton took the stage to introduce Steven Spielberg’s Best Picture nominee “Lincoln” and gave a rousing speech on how Lincoln’s influence is still important today. “President Lincoln’s struggle to abolish slavery reminds us that enduring progress is forged in a cauldron of both principal and compromise,” he remarked. “This brilliant film shows us how he did it and gives us hope that we can do it again.”

Jodie Foster came out (kind of) during her acceptance speech for the honorary Cecil B. DeMille award. While she has been notoriously close-mouthed about her personal life, Foster seemed to confirm speculation that the she is gay, stating, “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the stone age.” In her rambling-but-lively monologue, she went on to say, “If you had been a public figure since the time you were a toddler, if you had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe you too would value privacy above all else.” As always, Foster is the epitome of class and we applaud her and her much-deserved honor.

Check out a full list of the winners here.

While it seems there’s just way too many things I could put on this list, some other quick shout-outs deserve to go out to some memorable, amazing moments: Adele high-fiving Daniel Craig, Daniel Day-Lewis doing the “E.T. phone home” finger, Lena Dunham thanking Chad Lowe in her acceptance speech (effectively correcting the snub-heard-round-the-world), and pretty much every single joke from Amy and Tina, because they knocked it out of the park. Here’s hoping for a repeat next year!

Britney Spears Quits Show, Ends Engagement, Emerges a New Woman

Britney Spears Quits Show, Ends Engagement, Emerges a New Woman

Wow, Britney sure doesn’t waste any time. Just hours after announcing she would not be returning to “The X Factor” next season, Spears also announced that she and fiance Jason Trawick are splitting up.

Apparently, the split has been in the works for some time, but the former couple decided to wait until Trawick’s conservatorship over Britney’s affairs (he has been her agent for years) was disbanded. The conservatorship is now solely back in the hands of Brit’s father.

A spokesman for the couple said: “Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement…They came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways, while continuing to remain friends.”

The singer began dating Trawick in 2009, and they became engaged two years later in December 2011. But over the last few months, there seemed to have been trouble in paradise.

“The romance is gone,” a source recently said to Us Weekly. ”[Trawick] puts her on speakerphone so friends can hear her nagging.” Yet another source said, “I’d be shocked if they got married.”

Apparently, Jason wanted to end the engagement weeks ago, but agreed to wait until Britney’s “X Factor” duties ended.

As for Britney herself, she had this to say in a statement: “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.”

Jason, 41, also issued his own statement to air his feelings on the break. He said: “As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever.”

What’s next for Britney? Reports say she is considering a performance residency in Las Vegas. She also wants to get back into the studio, which is why she quit “X Factor.”

“I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season,” she said of her show departure. “I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it’s time for me to get back in the studio.”

“Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much,” she added. “I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”

Profane Audio Clip Leaks As Lindsay Lohan is Under Attack From Her Latest Movie

Profane Audio Clip Leaks As Lindsay Lohan is Under Attack From Her Latest Movie

Well, if Lindsay Lohan wasn’t unemployable at this point, she might be now.

The troubled actress has spent that last 24 hours or so battling off a series of image-attacking reports from “The Canyons,” the recently-completed film that promised yet another comeback, this time under the tutelage of legendary writer/director Paul Schrader (“Taxi Driver”) and author Bret Easton Ellis (“American Psycho).

First, The New York Times unleashed a lengthy, nightmarish tale of the 26-year-old actress and her adventures on the set of the steamy film about a privileged Los Angeles man and his various sexual trysts. Entitled “Here Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay Lohan in Your Movie,” it’s a long but very compelling read that depicts – including other things – Lohan not showing up for rehearsals, talking about her filmmakers and co-stars behind their backs, driving drunk, getting fired and then re-hired from the film, taking sleeping pills and trying to get essentially every one of her co-stars fired.

One would think that such an article would result in a terse denial from the target. But instead Lohan has been saying that the article was pretty accurate, disputing only the drunken driving part.

Now, as if we needed any more proof that “The Canyons” was a nightmare for all involved, along comes an audio clip that essentially turns the Times article into a multimedia presentation. The audio captures Lohan, Schrader and leading man James Deen (a porn star who Ellis got hired, convinced he was on the verge of becoming a major star) exchanging heated words as the director simply tried to get his leading man and leading lady to rehearse a scene. Making things even more cruelly ironic, the two actors who clearly hate each other are supposed to end the scene with a kiss.

“I know it’s for fun for you, but let’s do it,” Lindsay says in the clip to Deen, perhaps alluding to the pornographic background that the Times article says she became uncomfortable with when it came time to do a nude love scene with the star and two other porn actors. Even when it comes to continuity, she is accusatory towards her co-star: “[You were] On the other box. No, you weren’t on the other box. That’s a lie.”

“This what I do,” Schrader interjects, trying to explain to Lindsay the method that has kept him in Hollywood for 5 decades. “We are going to do a rehearsal, take it all the way through on the lips.”

When Deen seems confused, Lohan erupts: “What’s your lines? No but can you do, please James, say your lines as you’re walking over, because we are doing rehearsal with the lines, are we not? Do your f-cking job!”

“Alright, I’ve had enough already.” says Schrader, who by our count has been involved in about 8 above-average-to-classic films (including “Taxi Driver,” “American Gigolo,” Raging Bull,” “Affliction” and “Auto Focus”) to Lindsay’s one (“Mean Girls”).

There had been signs in the past that “The Canyons” was a troubled production, but all this new stuff makes Lohan’s “Georgia Rule” behavior look exemplary by comparison. Rumor has it that the film is not very good, and may eventually have to settle for a straight-to-DVD release.

Lindsay, we’re getting so sick of repeating this mantra now that we feel like we should have t-shirts made: Slow down. Knock off the crap. Surround yourself with good directors, producers, writers and co-stars, then trust them to bring out the promise in you that we all fell in love with a decade ago. Do it now, before this inevitable storyline makes you the next Corey Haim.

The Oscars Love “Lincoln,” “Argo,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and Anne Hathaway

The Oscars Love “Lincoln,” “Argo,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and Anne Hathaway

Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” continues to be the darling of award season, as the stunning biopic about the 16th President racked up 12 Oscar nominations this morning. Ceremony host Seth McFarlane and actress Emma Stone were on hand bright and early to announce all the nominations, and “Lincoln” lead the pack, Ang Lee’s adaptation of the best-selling book “Life of Pi” following closely behind with 12 nominations and “Les Miserables” and “Silver Linings Playbook” each earning 8.

The Oscars expanded the Best Picture category to 10 films three years ago, but the number fluctuates from year to year based on voting. This year, nine films have been deemed worthy to vie for the top spot: “Lincoln,” “Life of Pi,” “Les Miserables,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Argo,” “Amour,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Django Unchained” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” The Lincoln biopic, Ang Lee’s tiger flick and David O. Russell’s dark quirkfest will also compete with the lesser-known directors of “Amour” (Michael Haneke), and “Beasts of the Southern Wild” (Benh Zeitlin) in the Best Directing category. Shockingly, both Quentin Tarantino and Kathryn Bigelow got the Heisman.

“I am deeply honored and frankly a little overwhelmed by all of the nominations that ‘Life of Pi’ has received this morning,” said Lee in a statement. “So many talented people gave everything they had to this film, both in front of and behind the camera, and to see all of them receive this kind of recognition is something I am incredibly grateful for.”

In the acting categories, Daniel Day-Lewis is up against Bradley Cooper (“Playbook”), Denzel Washington (“Flight”), Joaquin Phoenix (“The Master”), and Hugh Jackman (“Les Mis”) for Best Actor. In the Best Actress category, the red-hot Jennifer Lawrence (“Playbook”) and Jessica Chastain (“Zero”) seem to be the ones to beat with Naomi Watts (“The Impossible”), Emmanuelle Riva (“Amour”), and Quvenzhané Wallis (“Beasts”) applying a full-court press.

Anne Hathaway was saved from embarrassment with her nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as the tragic Fantine in “Les Mis.” She faces Amy Adams, who scored her 4th Oscar nomination for “The Master,” Sally Field (“Lincoln”), Helen Hunt (“The Sessions”), and Jacki Weaver (“Playbook”).

The Best Supporting Actor Category is full of Hollywood heavyweights. In fact, all the nominees have won before. Robert DeNiro scored his sixth Oscar nomination for his performance as the superstitious Eagles fan in “Playbook.” He’ll face Alan Arkin (“Argo”), Philip Seymour Hoffman (“The Master”), Christoph Waltz (“Django Unchained”), and Tommy Lee Jones (“Lincoln”) on Oscar night. All we know is, when one of those dudes takes home the gold, the other 4 will be veeery good at convincing the camera that they are someone who is happy for the winner.

The biggest surprise of the nominations may have been all the love for “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” The much-loved indie film about a young girl in the Louisiana Bayou made a minor splash in theaters over the summer, but many believed it’d be forgotten come awards season. In addition to nominations for Best Picture and Best Director, the film’s tiny-but-powerful star, 9-year-old Wallis, was also nominated.

Of course, as is the case every year, there were snubs to go with the surprises. In addition to Tarantino and Bigelow, directors Ben Affleck and Tom Hooper (“The King’s Speech”) were also denied nominations despite their films being nominated for Best Picture. In addition, despite being respected actors who turned in solid performances, “Django” stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson weren’t able to snatch up any recognition.

The complete list of nominees can be viewed here. The 85th Annual Academy Awards will air on ABC on February 24th. Stay tuned to Nicerazzi for all the big winners and red carpet fashion updates!

Hot Viral Video: Ghost Pranks Drive-Thru Workers, Gets Fries With That

Hot Viral Video: Ghost Pranks Drive-Thru Workers, Gets Fries With That

There’s a new viral video rocketing around the Interwebs this morinng, and it’s a pretty funny one.

Created by something called “Penguin Magic” that appears to be a magic site, the video begins with a man explaining his ploy to disguise himself as the driver’s seat of his car. “For this prank, what I did was I built this car seat costume,” he says, turning it around to reveal a bunch of altered cardboard boxes and some masking tape. “What I’m gonna do with this costume is I’m going to put it on and go through a drive-thru.”

What follows is 3-and-a-half minutes of hilarity as a camera captures the car pulling up to various drive-thru windows, only to have the fast food employees freak out. Some laugh, others take pictures of the empty car, most grab co-workers to check it out. Overall, it’s a very fun video deserving of your time:

Of course, in this age of instant outrage, some on Twitter are already complaining that this guy and his prank video are mocking fast-food employees, essentially kicking people who aren’t exactly living the high life in the first place. But we say, that’s nonsense.

Unlike other viral videos that have food being thrown at employees (and that’s among the nicer things), this includes the fast-food workers in the fun. In at least one case, the worker reacts by wanting to take an Instagram photo! All this prank did was bring a smile to the faces of some people who are used to working an entire shift without one. No harm done, fun for all – watch the video and enjoy!

Emma Watson Stopped By Airport Security….Because They Think She’s a Tween?

Emma Watson Stopped By Airport Security….Because They Think She’s a Tween?

Well, I’d say it’s a good thing that “Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson didn’t have her wand with her; otherwise, I think some employees at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport would be nursing more than their own embarrassment.

Recently, the 22-year-old tweeted that customs officers questioned where her guardian was, believing her to be an unaccompanied minor. Keep in mind, Emma is about to turn 23!

Blame it on the backpack. As the actress tweeted: “Passport control:’unaccompanied minor?’ Me:’sorry?’ Passport control:’where is ur guardian?’ Me:’I’m 22!!!!!!!’ #neverwearingabackpackagain”

Okay, let’s break this down a bit. Watson is pretty small, known for her slender frame and apparently she is of relatively short stature at 5’5. Alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and their other “Potter” series co-stars, she was cast in part because her appearance seemed both youthful and likely to remain that way over multiple films.

So, we can understand her looking a bit younger than she is (which she’ll be thankful for later on in life, to be one of those genetically blessed permanently youthful faces). However, it seems pretty certain that regardless of what she was wearing, she looks older than…um…twelve.

Even if the officers weren’t aware of her international fame and notoriety (seriously?), it seems a little bewildering that the girl who’s looked stunning and fashion-forward in numerous modeling ads the last few years was considered a pre-teen who, required parental guidance. Sorry, but no.

Of course, her Twitter followers seem to agree, voicing their astonishment – but according to Emma, the situation is nothing new. “The really sad thing is that this is not the first time this has happened,” she tweeted not long after. But at least one fan weighed in with an important point, utilizing the hashtag “#youwillbegladwhenyouareforty.”

It seems unlikely that the annoyance fazed the actress that much, considering the stellar year she’s just had. Her first post-“Potter” film debut, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” adapted from the much-loved Stephen Chbosky novel, received stellar reviews (even if the box-office didn’t reflect it) and has garnered rumors of a possible Oscar nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. She’s been keeping busy with other high-profile roles scheduled to hit theaters in the next few years, including the lead in Sofia Coppola’s true-crime tale “The Bling Ring” and part of the ensemble cast in Darren Aronofsky’s ambitious biblical epic “Noah.”

So J.F.K., as you can see, it seems pretty apparent the girl’s capable of taking care of herself, and flying alone for that matter (no broomstick required).

From Film to Fashion, Beyonce to Baby Kim K., Here Are the Top 10 Things to Look Forward to in 2013

From Film to Fashion, Beyonce to Baby Kim K., Here Are the Top 10 Things to Look Forward to in 2013

2012 was definitely an entertaining year. From Gangham Style to “Downton Abbey,” One Direction to Fifty Shades of Grey, “The Hobbit” and “The Avengers” and everything else, the year may have had some drawbacks, but entertainment definitely was not one of them.

Believe it or not, 2013 is shaping up to be even better. With that in mind, here are the 10 things that we are most looking forward to in 2013:

The Royal Baby Makes Its Debut

No surprise here, the whole world is waiting for this one. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced they were expecting their royal bundle of joy in early December and everyone promptly went berserk with the news. There has been no due date announced yet, but it’ll happen sometime this year. Until then, we’re going to enjoy Kate’s sure-to-be amazing maternity fashions.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Welcome the Most Over-Exposed Baby Ever

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West ended 2012 with major news: they are expecting a baby! The mega-couple have been together since last April, a mere six months after Kardashian filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage. West revealed their happy news at his concert at Atlantic City, and the Internet quickly lit up with the news. The couple, both together and apart, has never been shy about publicity. And despite our modest proposal that they do the most truly newsworthy thing in this instance – actually hide the baby from the media – we have little doubt that their offspring will be just as exposed as them. We’re also pretty sure that this baby – whether it’s a boy or girl – will have a name starting with the letter K.

Beyonce Returns to Music

Beyonce spent the whole of last year playing mom to our favorite celebrity baby, Blue Ivy Carter. But in 2013 she’s returning to her roots—music. The former Destiny’s Child singer has been holed up in a Queens, New York studio recording tracks for her fifth album. And she’s got a heavy list of collaborators working with her too: Missy Elliot, Ne-Yo, The Dream, and of course, Jay-Z. No word on when the album will drop but rumors are we’ll be able to hear it before she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 3rd. There is also the hotly anticipated Beyonce HBO documentary set to air on February 16th. When you put it all together, 2013 is shaping up to be the year of Beyonce!

Mad Men Finally Returns to Television

It has already been 7 long months since “Mad Men” concluded its fifth season with our favorite characters, from Don to Peggy to Roger, heartbreakingly alone and questioning how they got there. Joan divorced her husband. Roger went back to LSD. And with his marriage possibly falling apart, Don found himself being propositioned by a strange woman at a bar, just like the good ol’ days. What happens now? Devoted fans hope we’ll learn the answer sooner rather than later in the new year. AMC hasn’t announced a return date for their hugely popular series, but fans are waiting on the edge of their seats with news. Rumor has it that we can expect an April return date.
We can only hope!

The Star Trek Sequel Lands in Theater

J.J. Abrams’ 2009 “Star Trek” reboot was a huge success, grossing over $385 million worldwide and creating a whole new generation of fans for Gene Roddenberry’s science fiction franchise. It’s been four years now, but fans will finally get to see the sequel. The hotly-anticipated trailer debuted late last year and features up-and-comer Benedict Cumberbatch, the British star known for playing Sherlock Holmes, as the villain. The movie drops in theaters on May 17th. Don’t be surprised if you see us lining up with our Spock ears on come May!

“American Idol” Returns with Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban

The 12th season of “Idol” hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already generating lots of drama. New judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are feuding behind the scenes and as leaked footage showed, it got very ugly. The two got into a verbal altercation during auditions in North Carolina, with Minaj threatening to shoot Carey and cussing her out. Fellow judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson sat by silently, watching the whole thing unfold. If this was only the audition process, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season looks like! Catch it January 16th on FOX.

Jennifer Aniston vs Angelina Jolie in the Wedding Race

Tabloids have been pitting Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie against each other as rivals ever since Aniston’s marriage to Pitt ended in divorce and he took up with Jolie. 2012 was no different, as both stars got engaged within months of each other, Aniston to boyfriend Justin Theroux in August and Jolie to Pitt in the spring. Pitt won’t confirm when he and Jolie will finally tie the knot, but it seems likely that there will be a 2013 wedding. As for Aniston, no word on her wedding date either, but considering how soon after the Jolie/Pitt engagement hers came, we can assume we’ll be seeing both couples wed around the same time!

The Great Gatsby Makes its 21st Century Debut

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic story of the Roaring Twenties is finally meeting the 21st Century. After several setbacks, Baz Luhrman’s stylish adaptation will be released on the big screen on May 10th. The all-star cast features Leonardo DiCaprio as the titular Jay Gatsby and also stars Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgarton. The splashy and vibrant trailer includes music from Jack White, Florence + the Machine, Kanye West, and Jay-Z who produced the score. Don’t be surprised if “Gatsby” spurs a huge revival in ‘20s fashion this spring.

“Boy Meets World” Gets a Spin-off: “Girl Meets World”?

It’s been 12 years since Cory and Topanga went off our televisions. And while we’ve definitely enjoyed the reruns, we couldn’t be more excited that one of the ‘90’s greatest guilty pleasures is getting a spin-off. In November, Disney announced they were developing “Girl Meets World,” which would focus on the 13-year-old daughter of Cory and Topanga, Riley Matthews. Not long after, original stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel signed on to play their old roles. Sweetening the pot, Cory Matthews will reportedly be his daughter’s seventh grade teacher. It’s a good thing, too, since Mr. Feeny is too busy over at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital these days.

Prabal Gurung Collaborates with Target

Target’s collaborations with designers have been a wildly successful venture for the mass retailer. Remember how the rush for the Missoni collection crashed their website? We expect their next collection, with Prabal Gurung, to be just as popular. The Nepalese designer is a favorite of everyone from Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama to Kate Hudson and Diane Kruger. Gurung’s Target collection will feature women’s wear, accessories and shoes and will feature his edgy aesthetic, feminine silhouettes, and striking prints. Prices will also be wallet-friendly, starting at a mere $19.99! The collection drops in stores on February 10th. We suggest lining up now!

Justin Bieber Caught Smoking Weed? Is The Teen Sensation Growing Up, Or Headed Down a Bad Road?

Justin Bieber Caught Smoking Weed? Is The Teen Sensation Growing Up, Or Headed Down a Bad Road?

Justin Bieber has had a scandalous few weeks. First the huge fight with on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez, then a paparazzo photographer was killed attempting to take a picture of Bieber, and now the biggest one of them all…the teen star was caught smoking pot!

That’s right, photos have leaked of the “Beauty and a Beat” singer reportedly getting higher than his records on the Billboard chart. It’s not exactly the best way to maintain his squeaky-clean image and appeal to a young fan base.

To his credit, Justin is owning up to his indiscretion. He has been apologizing to all the Beliebers out there via his Twitter account. The pop star’s missive stated: “Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down, u get up. I see all of u. I hear all of u. I never want to let any of you down. I love u.”

Apparently, Justin did have security present, but that did not stop the photos from being snapped. And his team isn’t pleased with that. “They are grilling security about who could have taken [the photos],” a source told Us Weekly.

The pics were said to have been taken inside a hotel room in Newport Beach, California, where 19-year-old rapper Lil Twist (a friend of Justin’s) was also seen partying. Lil Twist has also had a tough time lately, since he was reportedly driving the car at the papparazzi incident.

The pop sensation tries hard to keep up with his good boy image. As his manager Scooter Braun told GQ magazine last year: “He knows that I hold him to a high standard. He doesn’t want to blow it.”

During that same interview, Bieber claimed that it was his ability to stay “In control” that kept him away from alcohol and drug problems. “For me, it’s just like, I like to be in control of myself. I mean, I’ve had a beer, like, before. . . But I never get out of control,” he assured his fans at the time. “I mean, I keep my guard up a lot, because you know, you can’t trust anyone in this business. That’s what’s sad. You can’t trust anybody. I learned the hard way.”

With this latest news, one has to wonder: Has Justin turned a corner? And is it for the best, or a bad idea?

Who Will Be The Fastest-Rising Star of 2013? Our Money is On “Avengers” Baddie Tom Hiddleston!

Who Will Be The Fastest-Rising Star of 2013? Our Money is On “Avengers” Baddie Tom Hiddleston!

Hiddles. Hiddlestoners. While it may seem like I’m speaking complete gibberish, I’m actually not. These are just a few of the names that have been adopted by an ever-increasing and rabidly-loyal fandom for actor Tom Hiddleston.

Now some of you may be thinking: Tom who? Or perhaps you vaguely recognize the name but can’t quite place it.

Well, I’ll give you a little hint: The guy starred in the biggest blockbuster of 2012, and pretty much stole the show from such talents as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth – obviously not an easy feat. Yup, Hiddles played the one and only Loki, primary foe in “The Avengers” and its Marvel predecessor “Thor.”

“The Avengers” was a truly enjoyable action-fest that deserved to be seen for all of the superheroes involved, but it was Loki that stood out to me, and apparently to legions of other fans as well. Truth be told, it actually made me wonder whether bowing down and letting him rule the world would really be such a bad thing…

And while the role of the power-hungry god of mischief has brought him to the forefront of the Hollywood mainstream, unlike his villainous alter ego, he hasn’t let the success go to his head. The English actor, who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, has found the time to pick some more independent fare in-between donning the horned helmet and cape. From playing F. Scott Fitzgerald in Woody Allen’s lovely escape into the past “Midnight in Paris,” to Henry V in BBC Two’s Shakespearean adaptation, it’s clear the guy’s got range and has even hinted that directing might be in his future.

He shows no signs of slowing down at the moment, having recently wrapped Jim Jarmusch’s vampire flick “Only Lovers Left Alive” and has 3 more films slated this year alone (including the “Thor” sequel!). You won’t see me complaining about seeing his mug everywhere, and I’m pretty sure the Tumblr-verse is cool with it too. (Seriously. I dare you to check out the Tom Hiddleston tag on Tumblr.)

And, of course, he’s quite charming to boot:

Yes, 2013 looks to be a big year for Tom Hiddleston, even if us Hiddlestoners may be weeping over the possibility of a Loki-less “Avengers” sequel. Say it isn’t so!

Something tells me, however, that Tom will be fine. He’s an extremely talented actor, and we can expect some big things from him as his star continues to rise.
